Pneumonia Natural Cure
As you grow older, it is very common to be infected by respiratory diseases. The changes that occur in respiratory system with age; results in high incidence and prevalence of these diseases amongst the elders. Lungs in the old people are lighter and there is a loss of elastic fibers which maintain the potency of small airways. This results in the gradual decline of vital capacity and forced expiratory volume with age. The lung compliance also starts deteriorating due to the changes like calcification of the coastal cartilages and arthritis of costo-vetebral joints leading to stiffening of the rib cage. If you are older, your risk of suffering and dying from respiratory problems is higher. The post-mortem on the old revealed the bronchopneumonic changes of some type. Risk of dying from pneumonia doubles every decade after you are 20.
Pneumonia is the acute inflammation of the lungs and is the most common type of infectious disease amongst the seniors. There are two types of pneumonia: bronchopneumonia and lobar pneumonia. Bronchopneumonia is the extension of infection from the bronchi to the lung, resulting in the joint inflammation of the lung and the air passage. This is the common type of pneumonia in the old age. If you are in a debilitated state and suffering from pneumonia, your response to the treatment is not very encouraging. Lobar pneumonia occurs less frequently than bronchopneumonia, but occurs in a large way. Both the types of pneumonia occur simultaneously and can be treated the same way. When the lungs are affected, the condition becomes serious. This is the case of double pneumonia.
Natural Treatment for Pneumonia
- Start your treatment with a raw juice fast for 5 to 7 days, depending on the severity of the disease. Take a glass of fruit and vegetable juice, diluted with warm water on 50:50 basis for every two hours. Include juices of orange, mussombi, apple, pineapple and grapes and vegetables carrots and tomatoes in your diet. When the fever subsides and your raw juice diet is over, spend the next 3-4 days on an exclusive fresh fruit diet, where you take 3 meals a day of juicy fruits like apple, grapes, pineapple, mango, orange, lemon and papaya.
- Then start a well-balanced diet of natural foods of seeds, nuts and grains, vegetables and fruits, with special emphasis on fresh fruit and raw vegetables. Take a warm water enema daily to cleanse the bowels during the raw juice therapy and all-fruit diet and then whenever necessary.
- Avoid strong tea, coffee, refined foods, fried foods, white sugar, white flour and their products, condiments and pickles. Do not eat meat, drink alcohol or smoke. Apply full wet sheet pack to reduce the temperature naturally.
- In the initial acute stage of the disease, drink herbal tea made from fenugreek seeds four times a day to help the body in perspiring, removing toxicity and reducing the duration of fever. As your condition improves, you can reduce the quantity. Adding a few drops of lemon to the tea will enhance its flavour. Do not take any other food at this time. Only fasting and fenugreek tea will help your body in reducing the respiratory problems.
- Garlic is an excellent remedy for pneumonia. It should be taken in sufficient quantities. It has been proved that in all the instances of pneumonia, garlic consumption brought down the temperature, pulse rate and the respiration within 48 hours. You can also apply garlic juice externally to the chest with beneficial results as it is an irritant and rubefacient.
- You can find an excellent remedy in sesame seeds. Make an infusion of the seeds, mix it with a tablespoon of linseed, small amount of common salt and a dessertspoon of honey and take it to cure this malady. This helps in removal of catarrhal matter and phlegm from the bronchial tubes.
- By rubbing oil of turpentine over the rib cage and wrapping warm cloth over it, you can get relief from the pain of pneumonia.
