Arthritis

Arthritis is an inflammation of joints. It is derived from two Greek words, athron which stands for joints and itis denoting inflammation. This is a chronic disease where in the early stages, the whole body is completely involved and a joint or two is completely deformed. This leaves the patient completely handicapped and weakened. Shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, knees, ankles and toes are affected. Using home remedies for arthritis are very effective and proven healing methods.




Types of Arthritis :

There are various types of arthritis, the most common ones are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The former is a degenerative joint disease that occurs when there are structural changes in the joints, especially the weight-bearing ones such as spine and knees. Rheumatoid arthritis affects not only the joints of the fingers, wrists, hips, knees and feet but also the muscles, tendons and other issues of the body.

Symptoms of Arthritis :

The symptoms of osteoarthritis are pain and stiffness of the joints, and the pain increases after the exercise.  Besides, there are other symptoms like watery eyes, dry neck, leg cramps, allergies, arteriosclerosis, impairment of the functioning of the gall-bladder and liver problems. Rheumatoid arthritis develops gradually over several months with persistent pain and stiffness in one or more joints and affecting the entire body ultimately. The common symptoms are anaemia, colitis, constipation, gall-bladder disturbances, low blood pressure and deformed hands and feet.

Natural Remedies for Arthritis :

Though modern medicine does not believe that the cure for exists, there are some natural remedies for arthritis. The best natural home remedy for arthritis is to reduce the calorie intake. Since the arthritic patients cannot consume all the excess calories, toxins accumulate and an excessive acid waste results in the aggravation of joint condition. They should instead opt for a low-calorie diet with a minimum carbohydrate content. The diet should be alkaline in nature with a great emphasis on fruits and vegetables for protection and proteins and carbohydrates for energy.

Include some fresh raw vegetables like cabbage, carrot, celery, cucumber, endive, lettuce, onion, radish, tomato and watercress in raw salad.  The cooked vegetables can include asparagus, beets, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots,  celery, brinjal, mushroom, onion, peas, spinach, tomato and turnip. One of the best natural home remedy for arthritis is the vegetable juice therapy, where green juice extracted from any green leafy vegetable mixed with carrot, celery and red beet juice is given to the patient. The alkaline reaction of these juices dissolves the accumulation around the joints and tissues. Fresh pineapple is very valuable as the bromelain contained in it reduces the swelling and inflammation. Go for a repeated juice fasts at the intervals of every two months.





The other natural home remedy for arthritis is the raw potato juice therapy. The potato is cut into thin slices without peeling and soak the slices overnight in a large glass full of cold water. This water should be drunk in the morning on an empty stomach. You can also extract fresh juice from potatoes and drink diluted with water on 50:50 basis, as soon as you get up in the morning.

 Black gingelly seeds soaked overnight in water have been found to be a natural home remedy for arthritis. Drink the water in which you soak the seeds along with the seeds themselves the first thing in the morning. You can also fill a copper container with water and drink it the first thing in the morning, since copper is very useful for strengthening the muscular system. You can also wear a copper bracelet.

Apply warm coconut oil  or mustard oil mixed with camphor to the stiff and aching joints. This helps in increasing the blood supply and reducing the inflammation and stiffness.

The lime is a natural home remedy for arthritis since old days. The citric acid in lime dissolves the uric acid which is the primary cause of arthritis. The other natural remedies for arthritis that you can follow are green-gram soup mixed with crushed garlic cloves and a teaspoon of powdered fenugreek seeds in warm water taken daily.

Garlic has shown to be an effective natural home remedy for arthritis. It has anti-inflammatory property. You can also drink tea made from alfalfa, especially the seed. This tea has given beneficial results to the patients, since it leaves alkalizing residue.

Take vitamin A and D since they ward off infections and thus prevent arthritis. Orange, papaya, carrot, whole milk and butter, all green leafy vegetables, tomatoes and raw bananas are excellent sources of vitamin A. sunlight is the primary source of vitamin D and thus prevent arthritis by exposing the skin to sunlight.
