Arteriosclerosis
Arteriosclerosis is a disease of arteries; it affects the arterial walls, which thicken due to presence of lime and calcium. It has become one of the common ailments of the modern times, leading to death and disability. It is usually preceded by atherosclerosis, which is degeneration or softening of the inner lining of the blood vessel walls.
Arteriosclerosis affects coronary arteries and the arteries leading to brain. The blood vessels lose their elasticity and the smaller arteries narrow, thus impeding the free circulation of the blood. As the disease spreads, gradually veins and capillaries too are affected. Men suffer more than women, especially the younger ones. Arteriosclerosis can lead to heart attack at any time.
Symptoms of Arteriosclerosis :
• Numbness or coldness in the feet and cramps and pains in the legs even after a light exercise.
• For blockage in coronary artery, sharp pain resembling angina pectoris is experienced.
• When brain arteries are involved, vessel may burst causing hemorrhage in the brain.
• Cerebral vascular stroke with partial or complete paralysis of one side.
• Loss of memory and confused state of mind.
• Kidney disorders and high blood pressure if kidney arteries are affected.
Following lifestyle and habits may cause arteriosclerosis:
• Excessive intake of white sugar, refined foods and high fat diet with plenty of cholesterol.
• Sedentary lifestyle.
• High blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, rheumatism, Bight’s disease, malaria, syphilis.
• Emotional stress
• Heredity
Home Remedy for Arteriosclerosis :
Juice fast for five to seven days is the most effective home remedy for arteriosclerosis. Drink fresh, seasonal raw fruits and vegetables juices. Juices of grape-fruit, pineapple, lemon and green vegetables are especially beneficial. Use warm water enema daily to cleanse the bowels during the fasting period. After completing juice fast take a well-balanced diet comprising of seeds, nuts and grains, vegetables and fruits. Eat most of these foods raw. Include a lot of raw and sprouted seeds and nuts in your diet. Make a regular use of cold-pressed oils like safflower oil, flax seed oil and olive oil. Take a short fast on juices every three months as per the progress in your health.
Take number of small meals throughout the day instead of few large ones. Avoid hydrogenated fats, saturated fats, salt, refined and processed foods, condiments, sauces, pickles, strong tea, coffee, white sugar and white flour. Foods prepared in aluminum and copper vessels should be avoided because when they enter the body, they get deposited on the walls of aorta and arteries. Abstain from smoking since it constricts the arteries and worsens the condition.
Garlic and onion are one of the best home remedy for arteriosclerosis as they have a preventive effect on the disease. Vitamin C is a very beneficial since it converts cholesterol into bile acids.
Lemon peel is also effective home remedy for arteriosclerosis since it is the richest source of vitamin P and strengthens the arterial system. Shred the peel and add it to soups and stews or sprinkle it over salad.
Parsley can be used as a home remedy for arteriosclerosis, because it contains chemicals which keep your blood vessels especially capillaries and arteries in good condition. Simmer it gently in water for some time and take it several times a day as a beverage.
Beet juice can be used as a home remedy for arteriosclerosis. It dissolves the organic calcium deposits. Besides this, carrot and spinach juice can be taken, either singly or in combination. For a combination juice, use 300 ml of carrot juice and 200 ml of spinach juice to get 500 ml of juice.
Take plenty of outdoor exercises. Give up on all mental stress and worries. Enjoy prolonged neutral baths at night before going to bed on alternate days.
