Hemolytic Anemia Treatments
Hemolytic anemia is a condition that is characterized by an increase in destruction of red blood cells because of which there is a decrease of the red blood cells in the body. The average life of these red blood cells is much lower as compared to other people who are not suffering from hemolytic anemia. There are two main types of immune hemolytic anemia and they are intrinsic hemolytic anemia and extrinsic hemolytic anemia. In case of intrinsic hemolytic anemia, the person suffering from it is born with certain defects pertaining to the red blood cells. Examples of this condition are sickle cell anemia and thalassemia. Extrinsic hemolytic anemia on the other hand is acquired and is a result of an infection or disease that destroys the life of red blood cells. Causes of hemolytic anemia are primarily attributed to the inability of the bone marrow to provide enough production and supply of red blood cells, a bacterial, viral or fungal infection, a few autoimmune diseases that lead to hemolytic anemia or a side effect of taking a few medicines. Symptoms of hemolytic anemia differ from person to person but general symptoms include a lot of fatigue, pale and dull skin, headache and difficulty in breathing, enlargement of the spleen, an increase in heart rate, jaundice, chills or pain in the upper abdomen. In severe cases, it can even lead to a heart attack which eventually leads to death. There are a number of types of hemolytic anemia and the exact type would be determined by conducting a few tests for red blood cells destruction.
Hemolytic anemia treatment depends on whether the condition is mild or serious. If it is not very serious, a person can live a normal and healthy life without the use of any medicines. However, incase of a severe case of hemolytic anemia, medical intervention is needed. Such people might require undergoing blood transfusion on a regular basis. In a few other cases, the spleen may also have to be removed with a surgery. If you are suffering from hemolytic anemia, you should avoid cold weather climates as that will aggravate your condition. For those who have red blood cells defect since birth, they should avoid the intake of any medicines and fava beans as they trigger the damage of red blood cells. Natural cure for anemia or ayurvedic treatment is also said to be very beneficial in treating hemolytic anemia.bbbb
